Tonight, two Pentagon officers were shot just outside of the Pentagon at the Metro Station serving the defense department. It occurred just over two hours ago, and it’s unclear if what the motive is at this time.
The suspect is in custody and was injured by return fire. He has been identified as John Patrick Bedell. The police do claim he is an American citizen. Quick someone on the left see if he is part of a tea party.
“The officers were emphatic about saying he was very calm, that there was no distress,” Keevill said. “He had his arms down at his pocket. We see folks come up to the Pentagon every day that have their passes in different places. He reached into his pocket. They assumed he was going to get his pass out. He came out with a gun and just started shooting.”
The officers injuries are non-life threatening.

The McStay family is still missing. Joseph McStay, 40, and his wife, Summer, 43, went missing along with their two children, Gianna, 4, and Joseph, 3. The McStay family was last seen Feb. 4 and reported missing on the 11th.
Police in Southern California are working with Mexican authorities in the search for a missing family and poring over hundreds of hours of border security videotapes, hoping to find some clues. A vehicle belonging to the family was found abandoned near the Mexican border. The McStays’ home is in Fallbrook, an unincorporated area about 45 miles north of San Diego.
Michael McStay, Joseph McStay’s brother, fears that they may have been kidnapped.
“My gut feeling is telling me that they are being held against their will in some way,” he said.

Verizon is one of the largest wireless networks in the United States of America and if their coverage map were to be seen it would show a very few white spots in the country where Verizon wireless connections are not available. I can imagine many a businessmen loosing hair over this predicament.

Media report pictures of Lisa Ellis were found on the stars cell phone by Marie Claudinette, and Myclef Jeans wife now wants him to fire his manager.
New York media report Marie Claudinette went into a jealous rage after finding the pictures of Lisa Ellis on Jean’s smartphone device.
A sources said Claudinette accused Jean of having an adult affair with Lisa Ellis: “She jumped to the conclusion that something may be up between Wyclef and Lisa. She told Lisa to stay away from her husband. To embarrass Lisa, she also e-mailed the picture to a number of people in the music business.”

Today is the 174 anniversary of Texas’ Independence from Mexico.
In schools today, projects are planned at the fourth and seventh grade levels — the grades in which Texas History is taught.
“Texas Independence Day is a critical part of the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) for fourth and seventh grade Texas History,” said Stephen Foster, instructional specialist in social studies for the Comal Independent School District. “At the fourth grade level, you’ll have teach
ers doing more of the crafts-oriented projects. With the seventh grade, you get more of the intellectual level (historic figures and places),” in the classes, he said.
Statewide, the standardized testing of students on Texas history has waned, though not in the standards for the curriculum, Foster said.
The Texas Assessment of Academic Skills, or TAAS test, the precursor to the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills, or TAKS, the current standardized test in the state, emphasized more competency in Texas history and historic figures in the eighth-grade year.
Now the TAKS test “is more U.S. history, just discussing Texas’ role in western expansion and slavery,” Foster said.
On March 2, 1836, the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed at Washington-on-the-Brazos by 59 signatories — Sam Houston along with 58 other representatives.
Like the United States Declaration of Independence, the Texans’ declaration contains a statement on the nature of government, a list of grievances, and a final declaration of independence, according to the Handbook of Texas Online. The welfare of the state of Coahuila had taken precedent over that of Texas, they argued. Also listed among their grievances was that the Mexican government had failed to provide a system of public education, trial by jury and freedom of religion. The declaration even charged that the Mexican government had incited native populations — the Comanche and other tribes — to massacre the settlers from the United States.

Today, also happens to be the birthday of Sam Houston. He was born on March 2, 1793 in Virginia. He is the only person in U.S. history to be governor of two states, Tennessee and Texas, a U.S. Senator and the president of a foreign nation — the Republic of Texas.
On this day in history, in the year 1904, Theodor Geisel, best known to the world as Dr. Seuss, was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. It is hard to know at the time if he knew how he felt about green eggs and ham, but we can safely assume that he wouldn’t have liked them, Sam I am.
Under his pen name, Geisel published over 60 children’s books that were made popular by their imaginative, rhyming, trisyllabic meter-ness. His most famous include The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. As you know, his work as been adapted into several feature-length films. Chuck Jones directed animated versions of How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Horton Hears a Who! in the late 60s and early 70s. Two live action adaptations — the Jim Carry led Grinch and Mike Myers led Cat in the Hat — were released in 2000 and 2003 respectively, with a CGI Horton Hears a Who! hitting theaters in 2008. Needless to say, the man has had quite an impact on several generations of young readers.
As part of the Read Across America project, today is recognized as National Read Across America Day, an observance of Dr. Seuss’ birthday. First Lady Michelle Obama is at the Library of Congress today doing a little Seuss reading, and children across the nation will be celebrating by reading old Dr. Seuss favorites. Or skipping school and heading to the Dr. Seuss Landing at Islands of Adventure in Orlando. That’s what I’d be doing. But since I can’t make it to Orlando, I might as well dust off my copy of Green Eggs and Ham and have a little reading time, followed by nap time on the carpet. Then snack. Oh, the memories.
Anyway, I tell you that story to tell you this. In honor of Dr. Seuss’ 106th birthday, the folks at Half Day Today have created this loving rap video based on the rhyme scheme of his books. It also features classic rap themes like hot ladies, gratuitous cursing, flashy environmentally-friendly cars and literacy. I know that Theodor Geisel was a fan of all these things, and would be proud of their effort. It’s called “Wubble Down,” and it can be seen below.

France’s interior minister says the death toll from a violent storm that lashed western France with hurricane-force winds has risen to 47. At least six people died in other countries.
Most deaths are concentrated in France’s Vendee region on the Atlantic coast.
Minister Brice Hortefeux told France-Info radio on Monday that the number of dead would “doubtless” increase as more than 9,000 rescue workers make house-to-house visits.
The storm, named Xynthia, blew into France early Sunday, flooding ports, destroying homes and leaving some 1 million households without electricity.
